Inspiration Photos

Home sick today with a cold....I figured some pretty photos would help me feel better.
via Missoni:
Elle Magazine
Oh Missoni! If only you were a little more affordable. I love the idea of the black edging on this dress.
Elle again
I love love LOVE this dress even if the model looks like a cross between Lady Gaga and a constipated zombie.

and Alberta Ferretti:
Elle
So romantic and flowy and pretty!

I really don't understand couture sometimes:
This model does not look happy. Not happy at all.
What happened to those pants??

Ok, moving on. The Esteemed Even-Harder-To-Spell Aquilano E. Rimondi:
Another flowy pretty spring dress! Wheee. Unfortunately temps will have to warm up a little (and I will have to win the lottery) before I can wear those.
Enjoy the pretty pictures and remember: drink lots of vitamin C and don't lick your hands after touching a stairway rail.

Sewing Machine Blues

Oh, sewing machine.
For my birthday I got a sewing machine--nothing fancy, about  a hundred bucks from Target as I'm still learning to sew. I was BLISSED OUT. I tried it out a couple times and it wasn't the best machine ever but it worked! Then I took it to a sewing class. Maybe it felt intimidated by all the fancy schmancy class machines, maybe it's just defective, but I tried to use it and it started sewing backwards. Argh! We jimmied the reverse lever but it didn't work. It will only sew backwards now. Gah!!!!! We're going to try and get it fixed. If anyone knows what's wrong, please comment.

First Post & a Heartfelt Project

Woohoo! First post. To kick off ThreadHead, I'm going to do something easy, fun, Valentine-themed, and filled with delicious things. Yep, a chocolate box. If store-bought cardboard boxes just don't do it for you, here's how to decorate your very own.
Stuff you'll need:
-scissors
-felt
-hot glue gun
-box--my box was already plushified but if yours isn't you can hot glue felt or fabric to it before you begin.

For this project, I did a couple of hearts. You don't have to; you can make anything you want. Anyhoo, I just cut these hearts freehand but if you want to make more complicated shapes you can draw it out on the felt sheet, probably on the side you don't want the world to see. Then arrange the shapes on the box however you want. Sometimes (like here) it's cool to have the shapes not confined to the top of the box.

I also added little highlights to tie the colors together and make it more prettyful.
Now all that's left is to hot glue them down. Happy very early Valentine's Day!
